Depths

(A repost from my tumbler)

Water trickling down my ears,

taunting me,

causing fears.

Rushing sounds from above,

hoping stilled,

wishing love.

Fighting down the tears within,

darkened past,

blackened fin.

Monster’s eyes reflecting mine,

pointed teeth,

dreaded sign.

Slipping through the watery waste,

screaming terror,

being chased.

Seeing light from the sky,

wanting peace,

tearing cry.

Biting pain from behind,

horrified face,

contorted mind.

Curling in a shrinking ball,

covered skin,

bloodied fall.

Waking in a mess of sheets,

peaceful now,

dreams unsweet.
