Several months ago I was asked to assist in a military project by identifying someone according to their DNA. Currently, I’m in a hospital dying from radiation poisoning and hoping that I’ll die before revealing who they were looking for. She’s to young to be a lab rat anymore.
So, out of my entire list of story ideas, I have only one story that is requiring me to do research. And that is this one. I don’t write historical fiction, or modern fiction, or any kind of fiction related to this world. Except for this book which is supposed to be slightly futuristic, but very realistic at the same time.

A few weeks ago I got to spend a lovely day down by the lake shore with a friend. We ended up stopping in a small coffee shop in the basement of an older building and, while my friend was enjoying the use of their wi-fi, I sipped on her chi-tea. I’d called dibs on the place we were sitting in as soon as we’d entered the shop (happily, the group that’d been sitting there was just leaving when we got there).

Welcome back all!
As I’ve been reminding people on my social networking sites, this month begins the revival of my blog! The first  official post will be arriving on Wednesday morning: “A Day by the Shore, Looking through Amazing Grace” It’s going to be a bit of a photo post and, actually, I’m planning on posting more photo-set posts. But fear not, not all of my posts will consist of pictures. Amongst the few photo-set posts I’ve got a review or two, some writerly suggestions and occasional shorts or excerpts.
For reference, I’ll be (attempting) to hold a weekly schedule of Wednesday posts and either weekly or bi-weekly Friday posts. The Wednesday posts will be longer, more detailed posts, while Friday posts will be something short to tide over the weekend.
Along with my blog revival, I’m going to be reviving a few other things, plus beginning some more. My official tumblr page: R.S.Sharkey will be getting more posts as well, probably in the form of photos and story or writing notes. For those of you who follow me on Twitter and/or Google+ I’m going to be posting blog and tumblr updates there along with other notes-to-self sort of things. As for new things!… I’ve recently joined both Shelfari and Goodreads. I’m planning on adding more to both sites in the form of reviews and book ratings. While all of this is going on, I’m hoping to be picking up tips here and there to share with you all!
Well, that’s all of my update. Hope you continue to stick around, I’ve got some fun stuff scheduled out this month!

School started up again, so sorry about dropping out for a week or so. I don’t have much to post this time. In fact, I’m actually posting one of my assignments! We were told to find at least four illustrators (traditional or digital) that we like and explain why we link them. I posted my assignment over on my Tumblr, but decided to post on here as well. These people’s work is pretty darn cool, you should check them out.

Okay, she should have gotten this by now…Â It probably got there a bit late, but at least it got there before the end of the year. Merry Christmas Mel!

Well, not quite coloring water… I’m actually having fun during break by pulling out my mom’s watercolor paints! And no, I’m not painting willy nilly, I’m actually working (rather spontaneously) on a book project with a friend. She’s writing a sort of children’s Christmas story and needs illustrations. Perfect excuse to whip out the old paint brush!
Now, I’m telling you all this because I’m going to give you a sneak peek at one of the illustrations. I’m sure it will be awesome and give away none of the story, thus, here is your picture…

So, tonight I was going to post something along the lines of bookmarks. But the end of school came in the way during the week and I never did get the time to make that post. This has actually left me a few options, one of which I have chosen to write about (and I’m sure you’re bouncing with excitement).
I thought I’d give you a look into my artistic schooling!

So, I took my advice from the other day and wrote down a story one of my friends once told me. It’s been a while since she told it and she wasn’t on hand to ask when I wrote it down so I may have mixed it and another story. But here’s the story about the time Lauren got her own personal flyover…
