Review – Realty’s Dawn
Entering the Steamy Realities Steam House is, for Sisko and his entire town, a rite of passage for every child. Known for revealing your true character, the steam house gives Sisko the gift of a ring. A ring that grants him the ability to help others with the only stipulation being he cannot use it for himself.
Reality’s Dawn (R. L. Copple) is a collection of stories chronicling Sisko’s adventures as he follows God’s leading to help others. Along the way valuable lessons are learned for people are not perfect and neither is Sisko. I was reminded somewhat of stories you might read to a child as they aren’t long and each contain a godly moral.
The book reads like a novel, not the anthology it actually is. But I consider this a bonus. The way the stories feel connected makes it easier to just keep on reading, but still offer a good place to break off from reading. I found myself claiming “I’ll just finish this one story” multiples times as I juggled reading between work and school.
The writing was descriptive and I found I could easily re-immerse in the story. This really helped whenever I returned to reading after a long break. Yet, oddly, I was never quite sure of the setting. At times I wondered if it was modern, only to correct myself to medieval just to yet again consider it might be ancient era or even set about 40-50 years ago.
Though the era confused me, it didn’t affect my enjoyment of the book. This is a book I would gladly share with friends and family, no matter their age. The content is good and the lessons taught are important for everyone.
